Cicada’s Habit is a performative and textile work exploring

identity, memory and transformation through the body. Inspired

by the cicada’s life cycle, the piece unfolds through three stages (ovum, nympha and imago) understood as metaphors for childhood, adolescence and adulthood. Embroidered textile layers become an autobiographical archive, carrying dates, memories

and experiences that have shaped my identity.

During the performance, these layers are progressively removed from the body. What begins as an act of dressing gradually becomes one of shedding: leaving behind former identities, attachments and constructions of the self. The final removal

of the white dress exposes the vulnerable body, not as an

endpoint, but as a return to an essential state. Once the action

is over, the garments remain suspended and empty, preserving

the trace of a body that is no longer there.

Through embroidery, textile, movement and absence,

Cicada’s Habit approaches metamorphosis as both an intimate

and universal process, a continuous cycle of becoming, letting

go and beginning again.
