L’effort examines the body as both the agent and victim of contemporary systems of productivity. Through repetition, tension and physical exhaustion, the performer becomes an invisible machine driven by the constant demand to achieve, produce and improve.
Set within an infinite white space covered in plastic, the work evokes a controlled and almost panoptic environment. It questions the meritocratic promise that sacrifice inevitably leads to success, revealing instead an automated body trapped within its own expectations. Performance becomes a symbolic gesture of resistance against overwork, self-exploitation and the fragmentation of contemporary life.
