tandem
Performance / video art / site-specific installation

Tándem is an interactive multimedia installation inspired by Zygmunt Bauman’s theory of liquid modernity. Conceived as an itinerant labyrinth of undulating stainless-steel mirrors, the work explores the instability of identity within a globalised society defined by constant change. Distorted reflections and overlapping voices in different languages immerse visitors in an uncertain environment shaped by information overload, cultural disorientation and the fragmentation of contemporary experience.
At the centre of the labyrinth, a tandem bicycle offers a symbolic point of escape. The mechanism can only be activated when two visitors pedal together, causing the surrounding voices to fall silent while circular LED screens begin to display immersive images of nature. The individual action becomes collective, transforming tension and disconnection into cooperation.
Rather than simply representing the chaos of liquid modernity, Tándem proposes community, mutual support and shared effort as possible forms of resistance. Through the encounter with others, the installation suggests that new social balances can emerge within an increasingly fluid and uncertain world.
